Swiss seek mini-hydro turbine-generator for 27-MW Bramois hydro project

Contractor Hydro Exploitation SA seeks bids to replace a mini-hydropower turbine-generator downstream of the 27-MW Bramois hydroelectric project on the Rhone River in Switzerland. Documents may be obtained until August 18, with bids due September 26.

Hydro Exploitation is performing the work on behalf of project owner Forces Motrices de la Borgne, which is owned by Grande Dixence SA and area municipalities. It awarded a contract in March to Andritz Hydro AG to supply two turbine-generators to replace four original units in the Bramois powerhouse.

Hydro Exploitation has worked on other projects recently including 390-MW Nendaz, 290-MW Fionnay, 14.4-MW Farettes, and 1.6-MW Sonzier.

The contractor now seeks bids for a mini-hydropower turbine-generator designed for flows of 4 cubic meters per second and a head of 14 meters. It is part of the total refurbishment of the Bramois project and will be carried out in parallel with the other major work from January 2015 through March 2017.

Bidding documents may be obtained until August 18 for no fee if they are downloaded. Bids, in French, are due September 26.
