The Tanzania Ministry of Energy and Minerals invites expressions of interest from consultants to provide financial and transactional advice for development of the 358-MW Ruhudji hydroelectric project on the Ruhudji River. Responses are due August 25.
The government has applied for grant financing from a World Bank-managed fund for the Ruhudji project. (HNN 5/5/08) It is expected to cost US$800 million and reach financial closure within three years as a public-private partnership. On completion, it is expected to generate 2,000 GWh per year.
The Ministry of Energy and Minerals seeks legal advisory services supporting preparation and negotiation of key project agreements and associated documentation. Technical, environmental, and social due diligence is to be performed and a project financing plan developed.
The assignment is to ensure a bankable project is developed in a timely manner consistent with best international practices.
