Tanzania seeks procurement specialist for energy, hydro program

Tanzania Electric Supply Co. (Tanesco) invites applications from consultants seeking to serve as procurement specialist to advance a program of mini-grids and small power projects, including hydropower. Responses are due February 27.

World Bank agencies approved a total of US$111.5 million for the Tanzania Energy Development and Access Expansion Project (TEDAP) (HNN 10/17/08) The program is to improve quality and efficiency of electricity service, establish a sustainable basis for energy access expansion, and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by reducing barriers to renewable energy development.

Tanesco seeks a procurement specialist to help implement procurement and to train procurement staff. Over two years, the specialist is to help Tanesco staff gain knowledge in preparation of procurement plans; review of terms of reference, requests for proposals, and bidding documents; evaluation of bids; monitoring and reporting on procurement progress; and other associated processes.
