Tanzania seeks water resource plan for Rufiji Basin

The government of Tanzania invites expressions of interest in preparation of an integrated water resources management plan for the Rufiji Basin. Responses are due July 31.

With World Bank financing, the government seeks a consultant to prepare integrated water resources management and development plans for Rufiji Basin and an internal drainage basin to Lake Eyasi, Manyara, and Bubu Complex.

Work is to include a water resources assessment phase and a planning phase, including development of plans for water resources management, protection of water resources, and institutional strengthening and capacity building in the basin.

The Rufiji River is the site of the proposed 900-MW Stieglers Gorge hydroelectric project promoted by the government-owned Rufiji Basin Development Authority. (HNN 5/23/08)

Expressions of interest and qualifications, marked �Tender No. ME-O11/2007/08/C/09 for the Expression of Interest for Provision of Consultancy Services for Preparation of Integrated Water Resources Management and Development Plans for Rufiji Basin and Internal Drainage Basin to Lake Eyasi, Manyara, and Bubu Complex (IDB),� are due to the address below by 10 a.m. July 31.
