Transformer suppliers to be sought for French hydro

Electricite de France (EDF) plans to qualify companies to supply transformers and high-tension lines for EDF hydroelectric projects.

In an advance notice, EDF said it would be seeking supply of transformers and transmission lines, but gave no date for responses.

Previously, the utility announced it is qualifying companies to supply turbines and generators of less than 12 MW over a period of several years. (HNN 2/28/07) EDF said it intends to install several groups of small hydro plants per year and seeks to qualify a panel of equipment suppliers for a three-year period in which it would issue invitations to tender.
