Tunnel contract awarded for Vietnam’s 108-MW Nho Que 3

Private investor-developer BITEXCO has awarded a contract to Cavico Mining for construction of an access road and tunnel for the 108-MW Nho Que 3 hydroelectric project on Vietnam’s Nho Que River.

Cavico Mining’s parent firm, Vietnam hydro project builder Cavico Corp., said July 31 the US$20.5 million contract includes the access road and a 1.6-kilometer tunnel. The US$137.5 million Nho Que 3 is expected to go on line by late 2009 in Ha Giang Province.

Earlier in July, Cavico received a second construction contract for the 170-MW ALuoi hydroelectric project in A Luoi District of Vietnam’s Thua Thien Hue Province. (HNN 7/23/07)
