Ukraine utility OJSC UkrHydroEnergo seeks bids to rehabilitate three turbines of the 686-MW Kremenchuk hydroelectric project. Bids are due February 8.
UkrHydroEnergo announced plans in 2010 to seek bids to rehabilitate turbines at Kremenchuk (or Kremenchug). The World Bank approved a US$60 million loan in 2009 for rehabilitation of Kremenchuk and the 651-MW Dnipro 1, 661-MW Dnipro 2 (or Dnieprovska 1 and 2) projects. The work is part of ongoing hydro project rehabilitation funded by the World Bank.
The current solicitation (UHE/T-TKMG-26/10) includes design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of three rehabilitated Kaplan turbines, including runner, runner servomotor, main shaft, turbine guide bearing, distributor, turbine head cover and bottom ring, distributor servomotors, and runner chamber. The utility seeks completion of the first unit rehabilitation in 130 weeks, followed by the second in 174 weeks and the third in 217 weeks.
UkrHydroEnergo said the low bidder for a similar contract for Dnipro 2 must meet the aggregate amount of qualification requirements to be able to win both contracts.
