Turbine seal ring bidding set for Hoover, Davis, Parker projects

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids for replacement turbine seal rings at the 2,078.8-MW Hoover, 255-MW Davis, and 120-MW Parker dam hydroelectric projects on the Colorado River. Bids are due July 2.

Reclamation previously expected to issue the solicitation in December 2009, with bids to be due in January. (HydroWorld 11/12/09)

The agency has been performing modernization work for several years at Hoover in Arizona and Nevada, Davis in Arizona, and Parker in California. (Hydro Review March 2010) Most recently, the agency awarded a contract to Andritz Hydro to design and supply replacement turbines at Hoover. (HydroWorld 4/19/10)

Reclamation seeks new seal rings, ranging from 90 inches to 207 inches in diameter, to be installed on various-sized Francis turbines ranging up to 130 MW. Each task order is to be valued at between $5,000 and $200,000, with a total contract estimated at $5 million over five years.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R10PS30001 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. Bidders must register on the Central Contractor Registration Internet site, www.ccr.gov.
