U.K. county seeks support for projects including hydropower

MORPETH, United Kingdom 5/2/12 (PennWell) — England’s Northumberland County Council invites applications for pre-qualification to provide consultancy and technical support of environmental sustainability projects, including hydropower. Responses are due May 14.

The county council plans a 48-month framework agreement with between 24 and 40 companies. It envisions employing between three and five contractors for each of eight technology-based lots.

Contractors are to provide technical, commercial, and engineering support and to assist in commissioning the delivery of the project works. Firms may bid for any or all of the eight lots:
o Lot 1: Building management measures to reduce energy use;
o Lot 2: Small-scale district combined heat and power schemes;
o Lot 3: Small-scale generation such as photovoltaic installation;
o Lot 4: Feasibility and project assurance for biomass boilers;
o Lot 5: Feasibility and project assurance for wind generation;
o Lot 6: Geothermal projects;
o Lot 7: Anaerobic digestion plants;
o Lot 8: Hydroelectric generation schemes.
