U.S. again seeks gate installations at Pennsylvania’s Montgomery Locks and Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to install replacement lift gates at the Corps’ Montgomery Locks and Dam on the Ohio River near Beaver, Pa. A site visit is scheduled April 14, with bids due April 28.

The Corps’ Pittsburgh District previously called for bids to install replacement gates at the dam in 2014. It also awarded a contract that year to Steward Machine Co. Inc. to fabricate replacement gates for Montgomery. Free Flow Power Corp. applied last year for a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission hydropower license for the 42-MW Montgomery Locks and Dam (No. 13768) project at the 79-year-old dam.

The Pittsburgh District now seeks bids to install dam lift gates at Montgomery. The work is to include all necessary work on machinery, machinery houses, piers and chains under a base contract for installation of Lift Gates 6 and 7 and an option to install Gate 5. The work is valued at $5 million to $10 million. The previous solicitation had valued the work at $1 million to $5 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W911WN15B0004 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. A site visit is scheduled for 10 a.m., Eastern time, April 14.

Bids are due by 11 a.m., Eastern time, April 28. For information, contact Carole M. Householder, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, 1000 Liberty Ave., 22nd Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-4186; (1) 412-395-7274; E-mail: carole.householder@usace.army.mil.
