U.S. extends bid for stilling basin repair at 176.5-MW Palisades

BOISE, Idaho, U.S. 5/22/12 (PennWell) — The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids for stilling basin concrete repair at 176.564-MW Palisades Dam in Idaho. Bids now are due May 30.

Reclamation previously called for bids by May 22. It took bids in 2011 for stilling basin concrete repair, weir wall replacement, and construction of an oil containment system at Palisades, a multi purpose project built in 1957 on the Snake River 55 miles southeast of Idaho Falls. The agency also awarded a $25 million contract to Andritz Hydro in 2011 to overhaul all four turbines at the project.

Reclamation currently seeks concrete repair in the outlet works stilling basin, including saw cutting, removal, and replacement of concrete, and replacement of damaged reinforcing. The contract is estimated at between $250,000 and $500,000.
