The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for bids to perform dam safety civil construction at Pine Creek Dam on Little River in McCurtain County, Okla. Bids now are due Sept. 12.
The Corps’ Tulsa District previously called for bids by July 28.
Completed in 1969, Pine Creek Dam is designed for flood control, water supply and quality, recreation, and fish and wildlife. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensed the city of Broken Bow, Okla., to develop the 6.4-MW Pine Creek Lake hydro project (No. 12646) at the Corps dam. FERC stayed until April 2016 the deadline for hydro project construction to begin while the Corps completes the dam safety work.
The Tulsa District recently awarded a contract to Kiewit Infrastructure South Co. for other dam safety work, the remaining excavation that will allow flows into a new auxiliary spillway at Canton Lake Dam on the North Canadian River in Oklahoma.
The Tulsa District now seeks bids for installation of a 125-foot-long cutoff wall, a 48-foot-long chimney filter, a 110-foot-wide invert filter, and 550-foot-long, 12-foot-diameter steel conduit liner. The work is estimated to cost $10 million to $15 million.
