U.S. extends bidding for turbine overhauls at 176.5-MW Palisades

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids to overhaul four turbines at 176.564-MW Palisades Dam in Idaho. Bids now are due Jan. 12, 2011.

Reclamation previously said it would take bids by Dec. 29.

Palisades Dam is a multi purpose project built in 1957 on the Snake River 55 miles southeast of Idaho Falls. It provides supplemental water to 670,000 acres of irrigated land, and generates electricity. Reclamation awarded a $1 million contract to Eagle Rock Timber Co. in 2006 to build a machine shop at Palisades.

Reclamation seeks overhaul of turbines in Units 1-4.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R11PS10010 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
