Hoover Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended bidding for unit circuit breakers and associated equipment for 2,078-MW Hoover Dam in Arizona and Nevada. Bids now are due March 9.

Reclamation previously called for bids by March 5. The agency requested information in January from firms able to replace 480-volt switchgear at Hoover. It awarded a contract in October to Magnetek Inc. and Precision Crane & Hoist Services to modernize four 300-ton power plant cranes at the project.

Reclamation now seeks bids from small businesses to design, manufacture and install nine unit circuit breakers and associated equipment for Hoover. The circuit breakers are generator type, SF6 breakers rated at 25.3 kilovolts and rated to interrupt 128,000 amps fault current. Work includes removal of existing equipment and installation of nine generator-service circuit breakers and nine disconnect switches.

The work is valued at more than $10 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R15PS00208 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
