U.S. extends bidding for fish trap and haul facility at 40-MW Foster

 PORTLAND, Ore., U.S. 6/12/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for bids to construct a fish trap and haul facility at 40-MW Foster Dam on the South Santiam River in Oregon. Bids now are due July 3.

The Corps’ Portland District previously called for bids by June 19.

An embankment-type earthfill dam, Foster was built in the mid-1960s. The Corps took bids in 2011 for abatement of asbestos and lead at Foster and 20 other projects in Oregon.

The Portland District now seeks bids to construct a trap and haul facility to collect, hold, transport, and spawn adult salmon and steelhead. Work is to include modifications and connections to existing infrastructure and construction of new infrastructure. The work is valued at between $10 million and $25 million.

U.S. extends bidding for submersible power cable at 980-MW McNary

WALLA WALLA, Wash., U.S. 12/28/11 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for bids to supply submersible power cable for extended submerged barrier screens at 980-MW McNary Dam on the Columbia River. Bids now are due Jan. 4, 2012.

The Corps’ Walla Walla District previously called for bids by Dec. 21. The agency also recently collected information about firms capable of performing emergency intake gate work related to fish screen installations at McNary, near Umatilla, Ore.

In a solicitation set aside for small business, the Corps now seeks 3,000 feet of submersible cable to provide power and control capability to the extended submerged barrier screens at McNary.
