U.S. further extends impeller replacement, stator rewind bidding at 314-MW Keys Pump-Generating hydro plant

The Bureau of Reclamation further extended the deadline for bids to supply impeller replacements and stator rewinds at the 314-MW John W. Keys III Pump-Generating plant at Grand Coulee Dam. Bids now are due April 10.

Reclamation previously called for bids by March 26, Jan. 6 and Nov. 13.

The Keys plant is part of the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee Dam hydroelectric project in Washington. The plant was hit by fire last year, blamed on a switchgear failure in one of the plant’s six pumps or six pump-generators. Reclamation is planning a modernization program for the facility.

Reclamation now seeks bids for construction services to replace impellers and perform stator rewinds on Units P5 and P6 at Keys. The work is valued at more than $10 million.
