U.S. seeks firms to replace transformers at 255-MW Davis hydro project

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks information on firms capable of supplying replacement transformers for the 255-MW Davis Dam hydroelectric project on the Colorado River. Responses are due Dec. 5.

Reclamation sought information in 2013 on firms capable of supplying inverters for the Davis project. The agency has been performing modernization work for several years at Davis in Arizona, 2,078.8-MW Hoover Dam in Arizona and Nevada, and 120-MW Parker Dam in California.  In 2010, it took bids for replacement of turbine seal rings at the three Colorado River projects.

For purposes of determining a procurement strategy, Reclamation now seeks information on firms able to remove four or five existing transformers and supply and install replacement transformers at Davis. The work is valued at more than $10 million.

A sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R14PS01014 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
