The Bureau of Reclamation seeks information on firms able to supply unit circuit breakers and associated equipment for 2,078-MW Hoover Dam in Arizona and Nevada. Responses are due Oct. 9.

Reclamation took bids last year to repair, remanufacture, or replace mechanical components needed to refurbish hydroelectric equipment at Hoover. The agency previously called for information on firms able to modernize eight elevators at the hydro project, on the Colorado River. It awarded a contract to Andritz Hydro in 2012 to supply four turbine runners to the project.

In a sources sought notice, Reclamation’s Lower Colorado Region now seeks information on firms able to design, manufacture and install nine unit circuit breakers and associated equipment for Hoover. Responses are to be used to determine the type of solicitation to be issued.

The circuit breakers are generator type, SF6 breakers rated at 25.3 kilovolts and rated to interrupt 128,000 amps fault current. Work includes removal of existing equipment and installation of nine generator-service circuit breakers and nine disconnect switches.

The work is valued at more than $10 million.

The sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R14PS01037 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
