U.S. seeks impeller replacements, stator rewinds at 314-MW Keys Pump-Generating hydro plant

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to supply impeller replacements and stator rewinds at the 314-MW John W. Keys III Pump-Generating plant at Grand Coulee Dam. Registration is due Oct. 1 for an Oct. 6 site visit, with bids due Nov. 13.

The Keys plant is part of the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee Dam hydroelectric project in Washington. The plant was hit by fire last year, blamed on a switchgear failure in one of the plant’s six pumps or six pump-generators. Reclamation is planning a modernization program for the facility.

Reclamation now seeks bids for construction services to replace impellers and perform stator rewinds on Units P5 and P6 at Keys. The work is valued at more than $10 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. R14PS00719 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. A site visit is scheduled at 10 a.m., Pacific time, Oct. 6. Participants must register by Oct. 1 with Rita Grittner, (1) 509-633-3951, E-mail: mgrittner@usbr.gov.

Bids are due Nov. 13. For information, contact Misty Gates, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation – PN – Regional Office, 1150 N. Curtis Road, Suite 100, Boise, ID 83706-1234; (1) 208-378-5079; E-mail: mgates@usbr.gov.
