The Bureau of Reclamation requests information from industry sources on its plans to modernize generators G1-G18 at the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee Dam hydroelectric project. Responses are due Oct. 1.

Reclamation held an industry day in July to update vendors on the upcoming overhaul and uprate of generating units G19-G21 at the project’s 4,215-MW Grand Coulee Third Power Plant. The agency took bids in April to supply impeller replacements and stator rewinds at the project’s 314-MW John W. Keys III Pump-Generating plant. Other Grand Coulee developments are the 1,155-MW Left Power Plant, the 1,125-MW Right Power Plant.

Reclamation said modernization of G1-G18 is to include replacing generator windings, core, governors, controls, excitation and protective relays. It said it seeks industry comments on four proposed procurement scenarios.
