U.S. seeks intake refurbishment, extends call for generator rewinds at 140-MW Trinity hydro project

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids for intake mechanical equipment refurbishing and gate shaft refurbishing at the 140-MW Trinity hydroelectric project on the Trinity River in California. Bids due June 11.

Reclamation also extended the deadline for bids to rewind two generators at Trinity until July 8. It previously called for rewind bids by June 2.

The agency now seeks bids for intake mechanical equipment refurbishing and gate shaft refurbishing at Trinity. The work would include: calcium carbonate removal from walls of the valve bonnet chamber, gate shaft and both slots for the fixed wheel gate; surveying of walls and pressure grouting of identified cracks; refurbishment of joints of 24- and 20-inch pipe; and design, furnishing and installation of an electro-osmotic pulse calcite mitigation system in the gate shaft. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

Reclamation extends bidding deadline for generator rewinds

Reclamation extended until July 8 the deadline for bids to rewind two generators at Trinity.

The agency took bids in January to replace penstock flowmeters at Trinity and seven other hydroelectric projects in its northern and central California areas. Last year, the agency took bids to rebuild the cooling water strainers used in the generator and bearing cooling water systems at Trinity.

Reclamation now seeks bids to rewind two generators and furnish appurtenant components and services. The work is valued at $10 million to $25 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R15PS00287 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. Site visits were scheduled in April.
