The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids for modifications to spillway piers and gates at 198.72-MW Folsom Dam, on California’s American River. Bids are due Feb. 26, 2010.
The Interior Department said in April 2009 that Reclamation would invest $22.3 million in stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to address dam safety concerns at the high-risk Folsom Dam. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers took bids in February to build an auxiliary spillway control structure for Folsom. (HydroWorld 11/4/09)
The work is a Joint Federal Project by BuRec, the Corps, California Department of Water Resources, and Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency. In other work at the project, Reclamation awarded Andritz Hydro an $18.2 million contract in January to rewind three generators and replace excitation equipment. (HydroWorld 1/6/10)
