U.S. seeks transformers for 126-MW Buford, 73.4-MW West Point

MOBILE, Ala., U.S. 5/17/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to supply station service transformers for the 126-MW Buford and 73.4-MW West Point hydroelectric projects on the Chattahoochee River in Georgia and Alabama. Bids are due June 13.

The Corps’ Mobile District awarded a contract in 2010 with options to supply gas breakers for five projects including West Point.

In a solicitation reserved for small businesses, the Corps now seeks bids to supply, deliver, and possibly install four new station service transformers at Buford and two new station service transformers at West Point.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127812R0031 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

U.S. seeks transformers for two Colorado hydro plants

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to supply coupling capacitor voltage transformers for the 31.5-MW Crystal and 173.334-MW Morrow Point hydropower plants, part of the 1,747.184-MW Colorado River Storage Project. Bids are due Sept. 14, 2009.

BuRec also took bids in September for machine monitors for Crystal, Morrow Point, and a third plant in the Colorado River Storage Project, 86.4-MW Blue Mesa. (HydroWorld 8/27/09)

In the current solicitation, the agency seeks a contractor to furnish three coupling capacitor voltage transformers each for the two hydro plants. The contract is expected to be awarded by Sept. 30.
