U.S. seeks turbine seal rings for 2,078-MW Hoover

BOULDER CITY, Nev., U.S. 4/30/12 (PennWell) — The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to supply turbine seal rings for three units at 2,078-MW Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in Arizona and Nevada. Bids are due May 10.

Reclamation requested information in February on firms that are able to supply four turbine runners for Hoover.
The agency now seeks bids for supply and delivery of upper and lower rotating and stationary seal rings for Units A3, A4, and A9.

U.S. seeks turbine blade rehab at 2,160-MW John Day

PORTLAND, Ore., U.S. 12/6/11 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids for turbine blade refurbishment at 2,160-MW John Day Dam, on the Columbia River in Oregon. Bids are due Dec. 29.

The Corps’ Portland District called for information in September on firms capable of supplying a turbine maintenance platform and of performing turbine blade sealing, pinning, and tip gap filling at John Day.

The agency now seeks bids to perform Kaplan turbine blade sealing, pinning, and tip gap filling for Units 5 and 11 of the John Day powerhouse. Work includes sealing the packings of turbine blades, positioning all blades at the specified angle, testing the seals, performing blade pinning work, and fabricating and installing filler pieces on the blades’ periphery.
