U.S. sees unrestricted bid for boards, breakers at 42.6-MW Albeni Falls

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids for DC board and breaker replacements at the 42.6-MW Albeni Falls hydroelectric project on the Pend Oreille River in Idaho. A solicitation is expected to be issued about June 1.

The Corps’ Seattle District took information in April from small businesses about their capability to replace DC boards and breakers at Albeni Falls. The agency now says it plans to issue an unrestricted solicitation for the work.

Work would include demolishing existing and furnishing new 115-VAC and 125-VDC panelboards, including conduit, cable tray, wiring, disconnects, transformers, switchboards, enclosures, annunciator panel, chargers, and inverters. The work now is valued at $500,000 to $1 million.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912DW11R0016 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. A solicitation is expected to be issued about June 1, with a bidding deadline to be announced at that time.

Corps seeks breaker racking system for 525-MW Libby Dam

The Corps’ Seattle District also seeks bids to supply a remote circuit breaker racking system with on-site training for 525-MW Libby Dam in Montana. Bids are due June 3.

The Corps awarded a $2.4 million contract to ABB Inc. in 2010 for replacement of five excitation systems at 525-MW Libby Dam on the Kootenai River.

In a total small business set-aside, the Corps currently seeks: one low-voltage universal remote racking system, rotary style with entitlement tool compatible with Westinghouse DS-206 800-amp frame, 60-Hz; DS-416 1,600-amp frame, 60-Hz; Siemens-Allis LA-600B 600-amp frame, 60-Hz; and Siemens-Allis LA 1600B 1,600-amp frame 60-HZ horizontal circuit breakers. It also seeks: one medium-voltage universal remote racking system, extractor style with entitlement tool compatible with Allis Chalmers FC-500A1 15-kV, 1,200-amp and Cutler Hammer FC-VR-500 15-kV 1,200-amp lever-style circuit breakers. It also seeks a remote switch actuator with battery-operated control console.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912DW11Q0089 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

Bids are due June 3. For information, contact George Barnes, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, Attn: CENWS-CT, P.O. Box 3755, Seattle, WA 98124-3755; (1) 206-764-6801; E-mail: george.e.barnes@usace.army.mil.
