U.S. sets site visit on generator step-up transformers for 1,780-MW Dalles Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled a site visit on a request to supply 19 transformers for 1,780-MW Dalles Dam on the Columbia River. Registration is by Oct. 8 for the Oct. 14 site visit.

The Corps’ Portland District previously called for bids by Nov. 2 to supply the generator step-up transformers. It seeks bids Oct. 13 to supply turbine headcovers and related equipment for the project. It also took bids to upgrade the fall protection system and awarded a contract to Industrial Support Service LLC to refurbish a 35-ton tailrace gantry crane at the project.

The Portland District now seeks bids to supply one Class II three-phase generator step-up transformer and 18 single-phase GSU transformers for The Dalles. Work is to include design, manufacture, factory testing, shipment, site movement, reassembly and field testing.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127N15R0060 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

The site visit is scheduled for 10 a.m., Pacific time, Oct. 14. Participants must register by e-mail with Derek Caputi at derek.caputi@usace.army.mil and Travis L. Bond at travis.l.bond@usace.army.mil by 2 p.m., Pacific time, Oct. 8.
