PORTLAND, Ore., U.S. 4/13/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids to construct a fish trap and haul facility at 40-MW Foster Dam on the South Santiam River in Oregon. A solicitation is expected to be issued in May.
An embankment-type earthfill dam, Foster was built in the mid-1960s. The Corps took bids in 2011 for abatement of asbestos and lead at Foster and 20 other projects in Oregon. (HydroWorld 2/4/11)
The Corps’ Portland District plans to take bids to construct a trap and haul facility to collect, hold, transport, and spawn adult salmon and steelhead. Work is to include modifications and connections to existing infrastructure and construction of new infrastructure. The work is valued at between $10 million and $25 million.
