U.S. to seek modernization of elevators at 2,078-MW Hoover Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks information on firms able to modernize eight elevators at 2,078-MW Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in Arizona and Nevada. An industry day is to be held Feb. 25, with responses due March 11.

Reclamation sought information in November on firms able to repair or remanufacture guides and thrust bearings at Hoover. The agency said in January it took steps to address occupational safety issues at the hydroelectric project.

In a request for information, the agency now seeks information on firms capable of supplying all labor and equipment to replace and modernize equipment of eight elevators, including a machine room and electrical and mechanical controls.

A request for information notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering “Hoover” in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. An industry day is scheduled Feb. 25 at the project. Those seeking to attend should contact Cristina Hayden at the telephone number below.

Responses are due March 11. For information, contact Cristina Hayden, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation – LC – Lower Colorado Regional Office, P.O. Box 61470, Boulder City, NV 89006; (1) 702-293-8025; E-mail: chayden@usbr.gov.
