Uganda seeks geotechnical consultants for 4.36-MW Nyagak 3 mini hydro project

Uganda Electricity Generation Co. Ltd. (UEGCL) invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform geological and topological studies for the proposed 4.36-MW Nyagak 3 mini-hydropower project in Uganda. Responses are due February 7.

UEGCL proposes to build Nyagak 3 in Paidha on the Nyagak River downstream from the 3.5-MW Nyagak hydro project (also called the Paidha project).

With funding from Germany’s development bank, Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW), Lahmeyer International completed a feasibility study of Nyagak 3 in 2010. The project is expected to cost 14 million euros (US$18.7 million).

On behalf of UEGCL, the World Bank‘s International Finance Corp. Advisory Services in Public Private Partnerships (C3P) will receive expressions of interest and qualifications from consultants. A short-list of firms will be invited to submit proposals.

Expressions of interest are due February 7, in English, electronically via the World Bank’s eConsultant2 Internet site, https://wbgeconsult2.worldbank.org/wbgec/index.html. A solicitation notice is available on the website under Business Opportunities, Selection No. 1095675.
