India developer Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVN) has extended the bidding deadline for consultants to prepare a feasibility study, detailed project report, bid documents, drawings, and specifications for the 40-MW Dhaulasidh hydroelectric project on India’s Beas River. Bids now are due March 17.

Bids previously were due February 17. (HNN 1/28/09) SJVN also extended the deadline for obtaining bid documents until March 16.

Last year, SJVN signed memoranda of understanding with the Himachal Pradesh State government for development of Dhaulasidh and the 775-MW Luhri hydroelectric project, both in Himachal Pradesh. (HNN 11/18/08)

Dhaulasidh is to be built on the Beas River near Sanotu in Hamirpur District. It includes a 130-meter-long, 54-meter-tall concrete dam, two 52-meter penstocks, and a surface powerhouse at the dam toe containing two 20-MW turbine-generators.

SJVN seeks a consultant to prepare a feasibility study and bankable detailed project report for presentation to various India authorities such as the Central Electricity Authority, Central Water Commission, and other central and state government authorities. The detailed project report is to include a least cost alternative, power potential studies, and system studies for specification of electro-mechanical equipment.

Bid documents now may be obtained until March 16 from the address below for 20,000 rupees or US$450, with 500 rupees more for delivery by post, by crossed bank draft or bankers check to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. at Shimla. The documents also may be obtained from the SJVN Internet site, www.sjvn.nic.in, and from http://tenders.gov.in, with the document fee paid with the bid submission.
