UPDATE – India developer extends dates for BOOT hydro responses

India hydropower developer Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVN) says it plans issue a request for expressions of interest to develop hydropower projects on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis.

SJVN said it plans to post the solicitation, No. SJVN/BD/INT-N-EOI-A, on its Internet site, www.sjvn.nic.in, March 21, with responses to be received by 3 p.m. March 28. It previously said it would post the request March 11 for responses March 18. (HNN 3/11/08)

In a separate solicitation, No. SJVN/BD/INT-N-A-001, SJVN took expressions of interest through March 14 to form a joint venture to develop hydro projects on a BOOT basis.

In the joint venture solicitation, SJVN said it sought a developer or contractor of hydropower projects to form a special purpose vehicle. Prospective partners are to have experience developing a single project of at least 100 MW or two projects of at least 150 MW in the last seven years, it said.

The requests for expressions of interest may be obtained from the SJVN Internet site, www.sjvn.nic.in, under Tender New.
