India’s Himachal Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd. (HPPC) has extended the deadline for expressions of interest from consultants to assist in selection of an engineering-procurement-construction contractor to build the 402-MW Shongtong Karcham hydroelectric project on the Satluj River in Himachal Pradesh State. Responses now are due November 10.

Shongtong Karcham (or Songtong Karcham) is one of four run-of-river projects HPPC plans to develop under the Multi-Tranche Financing Facility Himachal Clean Power Development program funded by the Asian Development Bank. HPPC previously called for expressions of interest from consultants to assist in developing the other three: 111-MW Sawra Kuddu on the Pabbar River; 243-MW Integrated Kashang (including Kashang Stages 1-3) on the Kashang River; and 100-MW Sainj (or Sanj) on the Sainj River. The scope of work for Shongtong Karcham is to include: finalization of a detailed project report; preparation of bidding documents; guidance during tendering, bid evaluation, and contract award; and consulting services during project execution.
