SMUD seeks proposals from companies that can refurbish White Rock Unit 1 and Unit 2 turbine wicket gates. The contractor is to supply greaseless bushings for the refurbished wicket gates. It also is to measure and machine the head cover, bottom ring, facing plates, wicket gate bushing bores, and wicket gate bushings.

Work is to be performed during scheduled outages: Nov. 3 to Dec. 19 for Unit 1; Jan. 5 to Feb. 20, 2009, for Unit 2.

SMUD estimates the value of the work to be $600,000.

A non-mandatory pre-bid conference was held June 19 at SMUD’s Hydroelectric Maintenance Headquarters in Pollock Pines, Calif., followed by a site visit to the powerhouse.

A summary of the solicitation, No. 080266.GV, may be obtained from SMUD’s electronic bid solicitation system on the Internet at https://usage.smud.org/EBSSExt.

Proposals now are due July 23 at SMUD’s Supply Chain Services Office in Sacramento. For information, contact Gary Van Meter, (1) 916-732-5603; E-mail: gvanmet@smud.org.
