Nepal’s Department of Electricity Development has extended the bidding deadline for construction of the 600-MW Budhi Gandaki hydroelectric project on a build-own-operate-transfer basis. Bids now are due May 26.
Nepal previously said it would take bids by March 24. (HNN 3/5/08) Budhi Gandaki (or Burhi Gandaki) is one of three projects for which the government sought bids, including 300-MW Upper Karnali, and 402-MW Arun 3. (HNN 3/4/08)
The department said 21 firms purchased bidding documents by March 10. All are based in India, except as noted: AES (India) Pvt. Ltd., Athena Projects Pvt. Ltd., China Gezhouba Group Co. Ltd. of China, Chengdu Hydroelectric Investigation and Design Institute of China, Continental Construction Ltd., Green Ventures Renewables Nepal of Nepal, Hillsdale Group Inc. of the United States, IL&FS Nepal Infrastructure Development Co. (P) Ltd. of Nepal, JSW Energy Ltd., KSK Energy Ventures Pvt Ltd., Maytas Infra Ltd., Moser Baer Projects Pvt Ltd., Nagarjuna Construction Co. Ltd., Puducherry Power Corp. Ltd., Reykjavik Energy Invest of Iceland, SinoHydro Corp. of China, Sun Group, Tata Power Co. Ltd., Tehri Hydro Development Corp. Ltd., Triton Energy Ltd., and Universal Empire Infrastructure Ltd.
Budhi Gandaki bid documents may be obtained from the address below for US$350 by demand draft to the Department of Electricity Development or a bank voucher for 20,000 rupees deposited in Government of Nepal Revenue Account No. 1-1-5-99 at Nepal Rastra Bank, Thapathali, Kathmandu. Applicants are advised to collect the bid documents by designated representatives or courier.
