Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has extended the deadline for bids to provide engineering support to the 2,824-MW Lower Churchill hydroelectric project. Proposals now are due Jan. 18.
NLH issued the original solicitation just days after initiating the environmental assessment process for the project, on mainland Labrador, which includes the 2,000-MW Gull Island and 824-MW Muskrat Falls plants. (HNN 12/6/06)
External support and specialists are needed to help in preparation, planning, and engineering activities to meet key milestones over the next 12 months. Preliminary engineering work will allow the utility to prepare for future environmental and engineering activities leading to project approval.
NLH said the potential exists for multiple companies to participate in the work.
The RFP is on the utility’s Internet site, www.nlh.nl.ca, under the Vendors link. It includes instructions for submitting proposals by 3 p.m. Jan. 18.
