UPDATE – Peru utility takes bids to expand 107-MW Machu Picchu

Empresa de Generacion Electrica Machupicchu S.A. (Egemsa) seeks bids to expand the 107-MW Machu Picchu hydroelectric project in Peru’s Cusco Region to 206 MW. Bidder registration is due August 27, followed by bids September 26.

The construction of the second phase of Machu Picchu is expected to require three years. Egemsa said the solicitation has a reference value of US$135.1 million. (HNN 6/26/08)

Bidders may register and obtain bidding documents until August 27 from Oficina de la Division de Logistica, Av. Machupicchu S/N CT. Dolorespata, Cusco, Peru; (51) 84-232930; Fax: (51) 84-234305. A fee of 3,000 soles (US$4,700) is required, payable to Egemsa in Cuenta Corriente Interbank No. 420-000256965-5, with a deposit receipt sent by fax or e-mail for the registry.

Registrants must provide full name, national identity document, company name, address, and telephone. Those wishing to be notified electronically may submit an e-mail address.

Comments and questions are due by August 22, with any resulting changes to be incorporated into the bid documents by August 25. Bids are due by 11 a.m. September 26.
