Uruguay utility seeks bids for small hydro, wind, biomass

National utility Administracion Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Electricas (UTE) seeks proposals by August 2 to supply a total of 60 MW from renewable generators including small hydropower.

UTE said it prefers bids that would supply 20 MW each from small hydro, wind, and biomass projects located within Uruguay. The solicitation, conducted under a policy to diversify the nation’s energy supply, requires that offers of power be provided by specific power stations.

Bid documents may be obtained from the UTE Internet site, www.ute.com.uy, and purchased from the address below for 6,150 pesos (US$260). Bids are due by 2 p.m. August 2.
