U.S. seeks bids to repaint tainter gates at 130-MW Barkley

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to repaint tainter gates at the 130-MW Barkley hydroelectric project on the Cumberland River in Kentucky. Bids are due Aug. 9.

The Corps’ Nashville District awarded a contract in March to Ostrom Painting & Sandblasting Inc. for repairs to the 12 gates’ bent members, rusted web stiffeners, and cracked weld connections.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Corps now seeks bids for surface preparation and coating of the 12 gates, each of which measures 50 feet tall by 55 feet wide. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912P512B0006 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

Bids are due Aug. 9. For information, contact Heather Keeling, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, P.O. Box 1070, 801 Broad St., Nashville, TN 37202-1070; (1) 615-736-7939; E-mail: heather.d.keeling@us.army.mil.
