The Bureau of Reclamation plans to seek bids to rebuild four generators at 1,312-MW Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River. A site visit is to be scheduled between January and March 2013, with a solicitation expected to be issued by March.
At an industry day Oct. 24, Reclamation determined there was an insufficient number of small businesses that expressed interest in being prime contractor for the work. As a result, it said it intends to issue a solicitation for full and open competition.
The agency intends to seek bids to rebuild and rewind Glen Canyon generators G1, G3, G5, and G6. Work is to include removal and disposal of stator cores and armature windings; testing and installation of new stator cores and armature windings; furnishing armature winding spare parts; and removing, refurbishing, and reinstalling generator field poles.
The work is valued at more than $10 million.
A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R13PS40010 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
Reclamation expects to issue a draft solicitation for industry review and comment in mid- to late January and a final solicitation between February and March. A pre-solicitation site visit is planned between January and March. Those seeking to attend are invited to contact the address below by e-mail.
