VA Tech to equip Italy’s 13.3-MW Passirio

EnerPass SpA has awarded a 6.7 million euro (US$8.7 million) contract for generating equipment for the 13.3-MW Passirio hydroelectric project in Italy.

Equipment manufacturer VA Tech Escher Wyss Srl is to supply, assemble, and start up turbine-generator sets for the project, being built near the Austrian border. VA Tech was one of two bidders for the work on the Passirio River at San Martin in Passiria.

Last year, EnerPass awarded a 23.7 million euro (US$30.2 million) contract to Seli SpA of Italy for construction of a diversion structure for the project. That work included penstocks, surge tank, and valve chamber. (HNN 10/6/06)
