Vietnam builder wins additional contract for 18-MW Daksrong

Vietnam hydropower constructor Cavico Corp. said two of its subsidiaries have signed another contract for additional construction work at the 18-MW Daksrong hydroelectric project in Vietnam’s Gia Lai Province.

Cavico said its units, Energy Construction Joint Stock Co. and Cavico Mining &Construction Co., signed a US$1.1 million contract with project owner Daksrong Joint Stock Co. The work, designated Package 18, is to build the power plant, spillway, and 110-kilovolt substation. The work is to require 12 months.

In April, the Cavico units signed a US$3.5 million contract for Packages 15 and 16. (HNN 4/17/07) That work, to take 11 months, includes construction of a spillway, dam, intake gates, water channel, and pressure tank.

The project is located at Kong Chro village, 50 miles from Pleiku. Total project investment is US$20 million.
