Vietnam reissues call for social monitoring for 260-MW Trung Son

Trung Son Hydropower Project Management Board has reissued a call for expressions of interest from consultants to provide independent social monitoring of resettlement for the 260-MW Trung Son hydroelectric project on Vietnam’s Ma River. Responses now are due June 30, 2009.

The World Bank is considering a proposal to provide US$330 million in financing for construction of the project at Trung Son in Thanh Hoa Province. Trung Son is to include an 88-meter-tall dam on the Ma River and a 260-MW powerhouse, being sponsored by Electricity of Vietnam.

Trung Son Hydropower seeks consultant services including independent monitoring of a resettlement and livelihood development plan for 2,283 residents to be relocated.
