Vietnam seeks equipment for 156-MW Song Bung 4

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) seeks bids for electro-mechanical and hydro-mechanical equipment for the 156-MW Song Bung 4 hydroelectric project in Vietnam’s Quang Nam Province. Bids in two solicitations are due April 15, 2010.

The Asian Development Bank signed a US$196.5 million loan agreement with the Vietnam government in 2008 for construction of the US$267.3 million project. The balance of funding is being provided by owner EVN, US$49 million, and Vietnam Development Bank, US$22.3 million.

In 2009, EVN named Mott MacDonald of the United Kingdom to serve as implementation supervisor for construction of Song Bung 4 on the Bung River. (HydroWorld 7/14/09) Song Bung 4 includes a 110-meter-tall, 367-meter-long dam with reservoir of 15.8 square kilometers, a 3.1-kilometer tunnel, a short tailrace canal, and a powerhouse containing two 78-MW generating units.

In separate solicitations, ADB seeks bids for Package 4 (B-04) electro-mechanical equipment and Package 5 (TB-05) hydro-mechanical equipment.

Bid documents may be obtained from the address below for US$150 for each solicitation, plus US$40 for courier delivery.
