Voith Hydro to overhaul hydropower generator fleet of Kraftwerke Hinterrhein

Voith Hydro will overhaul a total of 13 hydro generators for the Swiss utility Kraftwerke Hinterrhein AG by 2016, Voith reported.

The contract value runs up to EUR 32 million (US$44.3 million), a press release states.

The power plant fleet of KHR consists of four hydro plants that bring a range of technological requirements: Sils (4×60 MW) and Baerenburg (4×55 MW) use vertical high-pressure Francis-units. Ferrera uses horizontal pump-storage units with motor-generators (3×63 MW turbine capacity, and an overall pumping capacity of 90 MW), while Thusis is a small hydro power plant (2 and 4 MW respectively).

In other news, Russia’s largest power producer RusHydro and Voith Hydro recently signed a memorandum of cooperation to upgrade and re-equip RusHydro’s hydropower plants, news agencies reported.

The document provides for the joint consideration of technical and commercial terms of a long-term contract to supply equipment for RusHydro’s generating facilities.
