Voith installs StreamDiver turbine at Sweden’s Bruksfors hydropower plant

Swedish utility Skelleftea Kraft AB has completed its rehabilitation of the small Bruksfors hydroelectric plant near Robertsfors, including the addition of a 250 kW generating unit manufactured by Voith.

The unit, from Voith’s StreamDiver line, was manufactured in the company’s “European Competence Center” in Kossler, Austria, and were selected due to Skelleftea Kraft’s strict environmental impact requirements.

StreamDiver units consist of a permanent magnet generator embedded into an oil-free bulb unit and have a low number of moving parts compared to conventional turbines, Voith said, while their compact design makes them easy to install in a number of non-traditional applications.
