World Bank seeks Brazil renewables market study including hydro

The World Bank’s International Finance Corp. (IFC) invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a market study of renewable energy, including hydropower, and energy efficiency in Brazil. Responses are due September 25, 2009.

The IFC seeks a study to assess opportunities for financing renewables and energy efficiency, mainly in the form of small and medium-sized projects, including hydro. The study is intended for a target audience of private sector financial institutions interested in investing in sustainable energy in Brazil.

Objectives include collection of data on the economic potential of renewables and energy efficiency, description of ongoing activities, identification of key market players, description of the policy and legal framework, and analysis of barriers to implementation.

Expressions of interest and qualifications are due by e-mail to the address below by September 25. A short-list of firms is to be invited to submit proposals.
