World Bank seeks consultant for Africa electrification workshop

The World Bank invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform organizational and logistical activities for the Africa Electrification Experiences Initiative (AEI) Workshop, planned for June 2009. Responses are due January 8, 2009.

The AEI Workshop, scheduled June 9-11, 2009, in Maputo, is intended for African practitioners, the bank said, adding about 120 people are expected to participate.

In June, the World Bank called for a �New Deal� for Africa’s power sector, urging efforts to develop large hydro projects, initiate regional power trade, restructure electricity system management, and increase electrification. (HNN 6/9/08)

The bank now seeks a consultant to send invitations, book flights and hotel rooms, assist with visas, ensure on-site transportation, book facilities, pursue secretariat services, organize social functions, submit a recording of the workshop to the World Bank and Forum of Energy Ministers of Africa, and submit a summary of final participant evaluations to the World Bank.
